Business Laptops For Consultants: What Do I Look For?

So, before we go into specific examples, what makes a business laptop a good option for a consultant?

When it comes to the basics, you need a laptop that is lightweight so you can travel with it to various meetings. It should be secure and powerful, with a battery life that can last a full day or longer where possible.

In terms of specifications, you’ll want something similar to laptops catered towards remote employment. It doesn’t need to be quite as strong as a high-spec gaming laptop, but it does need to be fast and easy to use.

This will ensure you can efficiently complete and work every day without any issues. You should also consider the functionality of your laptop, and whether it can be converted into a tablet or other means of presentation.

So, what laptops on the market today meet, or even surpass, these requirements? We’re going to list a few of the very best below.

1. MacBook Pro 16

If you’re accustomed to using Apple products and their software, then a Macbook Pro 16″ is a reliable choice.

The MacBook is a powerful machine with that 16-inch screen being one of its most alluring features. It has a battery life estimated to last over 10 hours, meaning it can survive for a working day fairly easily if you’re not close to a plug socket.

The Macbook Pro also has varying memory options, from 32 to 64GB and above. This means you can save plenty of work documents on it whilst also taking advantage of any cloud software.

But we know that not everyone enjoys using Mac products. That’s why there are many other options for consultants and their business laptops.

2. Dell Latitude 7400 2-in-1

This is a business laptop with a difference. The Dell Latitude 7400 2-in-1 boasts convertibility thanks to the 2-in-1 feature, meaning it can quickly transform into a tablet when required.

This is an amazing tool for giving presentations as a consultant to your clients, then returning it to a laptop mode for typing purposes later. Though the screen isn’t as large as the Macbook, the 14inch option provides more than enough screen space to see what you need to as a consultant.

The Dell Latitude 7400 2-in-1 is also marketing as, and specifically designed as, a business laptop. That means you know it has all the specs and features necessary for a good working laptop.

3. HP Elite Dragonfly

If you’re not a fan of Dell laptops, the HP Elite Dragonfly is also a reliable option as a consultant’s laptop. It boasts the same convertible abilities as the Dell Latitude, also providing touch-screen capabilities similar to the Latitude.

The Elite Dragonfly prioritizes security, which can be desirable for a consultant working with many clients and their confidential information. Not only does it provide a private camera, but it also has a fingerprint reader and facial recognition technology.

That means you can program your laptop to only respond to your fingerprints and facial information for access. This makes it considerably more secure than if you are only working with passwords in your security.

With 4 main forms of display, the HP Elite Dragonfly may well be the best choice for you in terms of business laptops.

4. Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon

This Lenovo laptop has a mouthful of a name! But that name is backed up with a powerful machine that has been optimized to the recently released 7th generation which only came out in 2019.

The Thinkpad offers a luxurious typing option compared with its competitor’s thanks to the emphasis on a well-designed keyboard. This can be ideal for consultants who find themselves typing a lot in their day-to-day work.

It’s also one of the lightest options we’ve listed, meaning it is easily transportable, with a long battery life that makes it perfect for the consultant on the go.

It also boasts a lot of customizability options, particularly when it comes to the screen. This can be a great feature for consultants who like to be able to personalize their laptops to their desires. As a business laptop, there’s a reason why we’ve listed it as one of the best on the market.

What If I Need More Help Deciding on a Business Laptop?

The above represent four of the absolute best laptops on the market today. But importantly, they represent some of the best business laptops available to consultants working from home, from their office, or on the go.

  1. Hello i would like to know if there’s any recommendation for laptops.
I would like a 15 inch laptop that’s not too heavy.
Beautiful graphics screen that’s on par or rivals with mac screen graphics color.
This laptop should also be able to play games on steam, able to render 3D animation, and great battery life.
If it’s alright with you do you have any recommendations for a laptop? I’m eyeing the imac M1 but i’m afraid that it might not be worth it for it’s cost.
Thank you very much for your time.
